How the Owner-Dependency Scorecard works

The Owner-Dependency Scorecard measures one thing: how well your business runs without you. It asks 8 scored questions across 5 areas of the business, then 2 quick questions about the business that aren't scored. Each answer is one tap, and the whole thing takes about 2 minutes. You see your Run-Without-You Score (out of 100) and your band right after the last question. You don't need to give your email for that.

The 5 areas it checks

• Sales Follow-Up (2 questions). Do leads get worked when you are busy?
• Front Door (1 question). Does your website turn visitors into calls or requests?
• Automation (1 question). Is the repeat admin handled without you?
• Financial Clarity (2 questions). Do you know your numbers without digging?

The questions

Every scored question has five answers. They run from the weakest answer (1) to the strongest (5).

1. Process If you took a 2-week vacation tomorrow, would the business run without you? From “Not a chance” to “Absolutely.”
2. Process Are your core processes documented so someone else could follow them? From “Nothing written down” to “All documented.”
3. Sales Follow-Up Do leads get followed up with automatically, or only when you remember? From “Only when I remember” to “Fully automatic.”
4. Sales Follow-Up Can you see your whole pipeline in one place without asking around? From “No pipeline view” to “One clean view.”
5. Front Door Does your website consistently turn visitors into booked calls or requests? From “Never” to “Consistently.”
6. Automation How much of your repetitive admin (scheduling, reminders, follow-up) is automated? From “None of it” to “Nearly all.”
7. Financial Clarity Do you know your margin by service or job without digging? From “No idea” to “Know it cold.”
8. Financial Clarity Do you have a clear, current view of your numbers each month? From “Never look” to “Every month.”
9. Not scored Roughly what does the business bring in a year? Just getting started, under $250K, $250K to $1.5M, or more than $1.5M.
10. Not scored If the fix were clear, when would you want it in place? The next 30 days, the next 90 days, later this year, or just curious.

How your score is calculated

Each scored answer is worth 1 to 5 points, so your 8 answers add up to between 8 and 40 points.

Run-Without-You Score = (your points − 8) ÷ 32 × 100, rounded to a whole number

Pick the strongest answer every time and you score 100. Pick the weakest every time and you score 0. Pick the middle answer every time and you score 50. Higher is better: 100 means the business runs without you, and 0 means it runs only on you.

All 8 scored answers count the same. So an area with 2 questions carries more weight than an area with 1. The two questions about your business never change your score; they shape the plan and the next step we suggest.

Each area also gets its own readiness percent, using the same math on just that area's questions. An area under 70% ready counts as exposed. The report names up to two exposed areas, lowest first. If two areas tie, Process comes first, then Sales Follow-Up, Front Door, Automation and Financial Clarity. Process goes first because the rest builds on it.

How to read your result

Your score lands in one of three bands:

• 40 or lower: Highly Owner-Dependent. The business runs because you push it every day.
• 41 to 65: Partially Owner-Dependent. You have real systems in places, but a few weak areas still pull you back into the day-to-day.
• 66 or higher: Running on Systems. The business largely runs without you. The next step is protecting that as you grow.

For the full report, give your first name and email. The report shows a bar for each of the 5 areas: Solid (green, 70% ready or better), Partly there (amber, 40% to 69%) or Exposed (red, under 40%). It names what would break first if you stepped away for 2 weeks, and gives you a 3-step, 30-day plan for your weakest area, taken from our Run-Without-You Guide. For example, if Sales Follow-Up is your weakest area, step one is getting every lead into one list. We show the report on the page and email you a copy.
